Best New Crime Dramas You Can’t Miss This Week (14-21 October)


Another series-rich week for crime drama fans. DI Ray is back on the beat in Birmingham with a dangerous new case to solve. And lovers of moody Irish detective series set amid Ireland’s lush and rugged landscape get Blackshore. Netflix also has some good new shows – The Lincoln Lawyer returns and if you haven’t seen A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder set in the English countryside, it’s the perfect not-too-dark download for your next flight.

DI Ray

Picking up two months after she was suspended, DI Ray (Parminder Nagra) joins a homicide investigation into a deadly drive-by shooting leaving two dead, including a local crime boss. An extra treat -The Tower’s Gemma Whelan is back as DCI Kerry Henderson.

Lisa Dwan stars as Detective Inspector Fia Lucey in this series about a missing woman, as she deals with a traumatic past, in a picturesque town filled with secrets. A tried and true formula we keep coming back for more of.

The Lincoln Lawyer

The Lincoln Lawyer: Season 3 is out on Netflix. Not a British series, but nevertheless very good, it follows on from the death of Mickey Haller‘a former client Gloria Days, and he’s out for justice in his search for her killer, helped of course by his two ex-wives, one of which he still obviously has the hots for, the lovely Neve Campbell.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder

Talented young actress Emma Myers carries this crime drama that will test your sleuthing skills. Set in a small sleepy country town in Buckinghamshire, amateur detective/high school student doesn’t believe schoolgirl Andie Bell was killed by her boyfriend five years ago. As she begins to investigate, town secrets are revealed, and someone is intent on stopping her from finding out the truth.
