This Week in Crime Drama: A kitchen reno turns murderous, a battle over a will, and a fan-favourite Kiwi detective drama returns
Secrets, lies, and long-held grudges come to the surface in a juicy new British crime drama that kicks off with a murder—or possibly more than one — apparently all over a kitchen reno. On a picture-perfect suburban street in England, tensions flare when a family’s plan to build a home extension sets off a chain of conflict. Emma and John Barnett (played by Jill Halfpenny and Rupert Penry-Jones) soon discover that their seemingly friendly neighbours are hiding far more than petty grievances. Over six taut episodes, simmering resentments and dangerous truths bubble to the surface, revealing just how deadly domestic life can become in The Feud.

Also premiering this week is I, Jack Wright, a new mystery from the creator of Unforgotten. Reuniting Grace co-stars John Simm and Zoë Tapper, this Alibi series opens with the apparent suicide of family patriarch Jack Wright (Eve). But as his loved ones reel from the loss, they’re hit with another blow: Jack’s third wife Sally (Nikki Amuka-Bird) and their sons Gray (Simm) and John (Daniel Rigby) have been cut out of his will. What unfolds is a layered tale of inheritance, betrayal, and hidden agendas.
Meanwhile, fans of The Brokenwood Mysteries can look forward to the return of the long-running New Zealand favorite. Season 11 premieres this week, with all episodes available to stream exclusively on Acorn TV (US only). Detective Mike Shepherd (Neill Rea), along with Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland) and Daniel Chalmers (Jarod Rawiri), returns to uncover quirky crimes and local secrets. The new season promises more of the show’s signature blend of offbeat humour, sharp storytelling, and small-town charm.
