Hostage kicks off the week with high-octane political drama, as British Prime Minister Abigail Dalton (Suranne Jones) faces a nightmare scenario: her husband Alex Anderson (Ashley Thomas) is kidnapped. As if that weren’t enough, the visiting French President becomes the target of blackmail, pulling both leaders into a web of international intrigue. The series explores power, loyalty, and the personal costs of leadership as the two are forced into a reluctant partnership to uncover who’s behind the escalating threats.
One Night, a repeat 2023 series airing on ITV1, shifts the focus from political stakes to personal trauma. Set in a small Australian town, the series follows three women—Tess, Simone, and Hat, played by Jodie Whittaker, Nicole da Silva, and Yael Stone—whose friendship was shattered by a harrowing event two decades earlier. As the past resurfaces, they must reckon with long-buried truths and fractured memories.
Closing out the list is Irish Blood, a six-part cosy Irish series on Acorn. Alicia Silverstone stars as Fiona Sharpe, a tough L.A. divorce lawyer who travels to Ireland after receiving a mysterious package from her estranged father. What begins as a personal quest quickly spirals into a dangerous investigation involving family secrets, hidden identities, and long-standing lies.
