Two heavyweight crime dramas are back with new seasons, while two new thrillers promise to keep you on edge as autumn TV hits peak intensity. Vicky McClure returns as an increasingly troubled Lana Washington in Trigger Point’s third season, where a chemical bomb and a chilling message ignite a chain of deadly attacks across the city. As the explosions escalate, so too does Lana’s battle with PTSD and isolation, pushing her—and her team—to breaking point.

We return to the windswept beauty of the Shetland Isles, as Calder and Tosh investigate the murder of a retired social worker in a tight-lipped village, where everyone has something to hide. The case quickly turns personal, threatening to shatter trust within the team as buried truths emerge from the fog in Shetland.
When Marissa Irvine arrives to collect her son from a playdate only to find a stranger at the door, her world collapses into fear and suspicion.
Starring Succession’s Sarah Snook and Dakota Fanning, All Her Fault turns suburban normality into a nightmare of deceit and paranoia. Finally, Death by Lightning revisits one of America’s strangest true stories—the assassination of President James Garfield—through a gripping, character-driven lens. Michael Shannon and Matthew Macfadyen —also of Succession — lead this dark historical drama, exploring obsession, ambition, and the perilous intersection of faith and madness.

Trigger Point (ITV1 & ITVX, 26 Oct.)
When a chemical bomb is discovered in an abandoned taxi alongside a chilling note reading “confess or die,” bomb-disposal expert Lana Washington (Vicky McClure) is thrust back into the heart of danger. Shetland (BBC One & iPlayer, 5 Nov.)
In the misty isolation of the Shetland Isles, detective duo Ruth Calder (Ashley Jensen) and Alison “Tosh” McIntosh (Alison O’Donnell) investigate the brutal murder of a retired social worker in a secretive village. As they peel back layers of deceit and buried guilt, the case takes a personal turn that could shatter the team forever.

All Her Fault (Sky/Now TV, 7 Nov.)
Marissa Irvine (Sarah Snook) goes to collect her young son from a playdate—only to find a stranger at the door who insists she’s never heard of him. Also starring Dakota Fanning, this gripping adaptation of Andrea Mara’s novel transforms suburban calm into a nightmare of paranoia and mistrust.
