WHAT TO WATCH: BEST NEW CRIME DRAMAS (18-25 NOV)


Big-name stars lead a slate of new crime dramas this week, from Claire Danes diving into a chilling psychological duel in The Beast in Me, to a Scottish mystery unfolding in Summerwater with Dougray Scott, and Shirley Henderson, where a devastating fire exposes the tense, tangled lives of families holidaying at a loch-side cabin park.

Classic detective fiction gets a fresh spin with Cooper and Fry, starring Mandip Gill and Downton Abbey’s Robert James-Collier, while the oil-soaked battles of West Texas ignite in Landman’s explosive second season led by Demi Moore and Billy Bob Thornton. And Prime Video’s Malice is a razor-sharp thriller powered by David Duchovny, and Jack Whitehall as a tutor with an agenda.

The Beast in Me (Netflix, 13 Nov.)
Author Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes) has withdrawn from public life after a tragedy — but then the house next door is bought by Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys). Suddenly, she’s drawn into a disturbing game of wits with her wealthy, charismatic new neighbour, who might be a murderer.
