WHAT TO WATCH: BEST NEW CRIME DRAMAS (25-31 MAR)


This week’s crime drama lineup delivers real-life scandal, Nordic-noir serial-killer suspense and the return of one of ITV’s most reliable detective hits.

Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards (Channel 5, 24 March)
Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards explores the double life of one of British television’s most recognisable news presenters, charting how his public authority unravelled following his conviction for making indecent images of children. The drama examines how a vulnerable teenager was groomed and how a position of power spiralled into scandal, ultimately leading to Edwards’ complete fall from public life.

Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole (Netflix, 26 March)
Based on Jo Nesbø’s Devil’s StarNesbø’s Detective Hole follows troubled detective Harry Hole, played by Tobias Santelmann, as he hunts a ritualistic serial killer terrorising Oslo. With Joel Kinnaman as adversary Tom Waaler, the Norwegian-language series delivers classic Nordic noir — bleak landscapes, moral ambiguity and a detective battling both corruption and his own inner demons. Grace – Series 6 (ITV, 29 March)
Brighton-based crime drama Grace returns for a sixth series with John Simm back as Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, alongside Richie Campbell and Zoë Tapper, as tensions continue to simmer within East Sussex CID following last season’s anti-corruption shockwaves. Featuring four new standalone stories adapted from Peter James’ novels — Left You DeadPicture You DeadDead Man’s Game and One Of Us Is Dead — the series sees Grace juggling complex investigations and the deeply personal quest for truth about Sandy’s murder, a pursuit that threatens devastating consequences for his family
