WHAT TO WATCH: BEST NEW CRIME DRAMAS (6-13 OCT)

Three excellent new series for you this week. From a London solicitor determined to uncover the truth behind a suspicious death, to a political thriller and high-stakes legal battle between two of London’s most powerful law firms. Here’s what to watch this week. And if you haven’t watched S4 of Blue Lights yet — this season maybe the best yet. Powerful, raw, edge of your seat stuff.

Pierre (Channel 4, 5 October 2026)

The brilliant David Harewood stars in this six-part crime drama as Pierre, a charming and funny west London duty solicitor juggling financial pressures, a strained marriage and the relentless demands of defending people on the fringes of society. His life takes a darker turn when Michael, a young Black man arrested for stealing his aunt’s car, later dies in suspicious circumstances. While police dismiss Michael’s death as a drug deal gone wrong, those closest to him believe there is more to the story. Determined to uncover the truth, Pierre challenges the official narrative and investigates allegations of racial profiling, drawing him into a disturbing web of institutional corruption that puts his career, safety and personal life at risk.

The Party (ITV1 and ITVX, 11 October 2026)

Luke Evans, Tom Cullen and Joanna Scanlan star in this five-part psychological thriller adapted from Elizabeth Day’s acclaimed novel. Evans plays journalist Martin Gilmour, who grew up with his working-class mother before winning a scholarship to an elite boarding school, where he formed a lifelong friendship with wealthy and charismatic politician Ben Fitzmaurice, played by Cullen. Thirty years later, Martin attends Ben’s lavish birthday party at the Fitzmaurice country estate, just as a political crisis and an impending leadership bid threaten to expose dark secrets from their university years. Moving between the party, a police investigation and flashbacks to their past, the series explores obsession, loyalty, class and betrayal.

War (HBO, Max and Sky Atlantic, Available now)

Sienna Miller and Dominic West lead this eight-part legal drama anthology created by George Kay, set in the ruthless world of London divorce and family law. The first season centres on the explosive split between wealthy British tech entrepreneur Morgan Henderson, played by West, and international film star Carla Duval, played by Miller, after ten years of marriage. Their battle pits two prestigious London law firms, Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne, against each other, with both sides prepared to exploit every scandal, revelation and dirty trick to secure victory. Designed as an anthology, future seasons will explore different high-profile legal battles, making War a compelling new addition for fans of sharp, high-stakes legal drama.
