WHAT TO WATCH: BEST NEW CRIME DRAMAS (13-20 OCT)

From humid Australian landscapes to the Welsh coast and the corridors of international politics. Here are three crime dramas to add to your watchlist this week.

Dustfall (ABC TV and ABC iview, 11 October 2026)

Anna Torv (Mindhunter) stars in this six-part Australian crime drama as detective Tig Pollard, investigating after 18-year-old Edie is found in a cane field with no memory of what happened to her. What begins as a suspected sexual assault case takes a darker turn when a key suspect dies. As Tig uncovers a wider pattern of drink-spiking assaults, the investigation becomes personal, forcing her to confront secrets from her own past. Juliet Stevenson, Zoe Phillips and Bert LaBonté also star. Filmed on the Gold Coast, all six episodes are available on ABC iview in Australia, with an international release planned for 2027.

Cleddau – Season 2 (S4C, S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer, 13 October 2026)

Cue the cosy jumpers; Welsh crime thriller Cleddau, also known as The One That Got Away, returns as Elen Rhys and Richard Harrington reprise their roles as DI Ffion Lloyd and DS Rick Sheldon. When a body is discovered in the River Cleddau, the detectives hunt a killer using dating apps to stalk and lure victims in Pembrokeshire. Created by Catherine Tregenna, the six-part series features returning cast members Mali Ann Rees, Sharon Morgan and Hannah Daniel. The Welsh-language version premieres on S4C, with English subtitles available, while the English-language version is expected on BBC Four in 2027.

The Diplomat – Season 4 (Netflix, 15 October 2026)

Keri Russell returns as the brilliant US ambassador Kate Wyler in Netflix’s political thriller, alongside Rufus Sewell, Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford. After a catastrophic event threatens the fragile peace between the US and UK, Kate fights to restore order. Meanwhile, a dangerous alliance between President Grace Penn and Hal Wyler threatens to push America towards war as they attempt to seize Russia’s most powerful weapon. Forced into an uneasy partnership with Todd Penn, Kate must navigate shifting loyalties and prevent an international crisis.
