November brings a fresh dose of espionage, and the return of the cosiest of crime dramas – I can hear the melancholic John Lunn-composed theme song calling. Plus we get a new Jessica Chastain film set in a shadowy side of country music capital Nashville. Here’s what to add to your watchlist.

Verity (Digital release, 27 October 2026)
Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett star in this erotic psychological thriller based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. Struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson) is hired to finish the books of bestselling author Verity Crawford (Hathaway), who has been left catatonic following an accident. Staying at the remote Crawford estate, Lowen discovers a disturbing manuscript. Directed by Michael Showalter, the film arrived in cinemas on 2 October and is now available on demand via premium digital platforms, including Prime Video, from 27 October.
Black Doves – Season 2 (Netflix, 5 November 2026)
Keira Knightley, and Sarah Lancashire and Ben Whishaw return as Helen Webb and Sam Young in the second season of Netflix’s hit spy thriller. Helen continues leaking state secrets to the covert Black Doves organisation, but with her husband, Wallace (Andrew Buchan), preparing to become prime minister, the stakes have never been higher. Meanwhile, former elite assassin Sam finds himself drinking alone in Soho bars and taking increasingly low-level jobs. As Helen’s double life becomes more dangerous, new cast members Ambika Mod, Neve Campbell, Babou Ceesay and Sam Riley join the intrigue.
Shetland – Season 11 (BBC One and BBC iPlayer, 12 November 2026)
The windswept Shetland Isles provide the backdrop once again as Ashley Jensen and Alison O’Donnell return as DI Ruth Calder and DI Alison “Tosh” McIntosh in the 11th season (wow!) of this acclaimed crime drama. When a car is pulled from the water containing skeletal remains, the detectives reopen a cold case that leads to a respected local GP who fled the islands nine years earlier. The new season is particularly poignant for fans, as it marks Alison O’Donnell’s final appearance as Tosh, a character she has played since the series began in 2013.
The Good Daughter (Sky and NOW, 12 November 2026)
Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy star in this new psychological thriller about sisters Charlotte and Samantha Quinn, whose lives were shattered by a violent night two decades ago. Now a lawyer, Charlotte finds herself at the centre of another disturbing attack in their small town when she becomes a key witness in the case. As the investigation brings painful memories and long-buried secrets to the surface, the sisters are forced to confront their shared past and the complicated bond that still connects them.
Heartland (Netflix, 13 November 2026)
Jessica Chastain stars in this mystery-thriller film as Misty Jones, a former country music megastar who has spent two decades in seclusion. Drawn back to Nashville by the disappearance of her niece, a rising star in the music industry, Misty begins searching for answers and uncovers the darker side of the city’s glamorous music scene. Written and directed by Shana Feste, the film promises a mix of family secrets, mystery and the murky underbelly of fame. As Misty digs deeper, she may discover that the truth is more dangerous than she imagined.
